User Evaluation of Augmented Reality Systems
نویسندگان
چکیده
Augmented Reality (AR) systems need to be evaluated for their appropriateness for a given task. Three approaches are used with this paper to evaluate the Waterpump Augmented Reality Tool (WART). The system is assessed using verbal protocol, performance time and a questionnaire. The WART system is compared with a paper version of the assembly instructions. The verbal protocol revealed that there was more cognitive processing for the paper version of task than WART, it took longer to complete the task with WART than the paper version and the questionnaire revealed the effect on performance of problems associated with AR. All of the participants in the evaluation, however, were positive about WART, and appreciated its usefulness.

A Task-Based Design Approach for Augmented Reality Systems
User interaction components of Augmented Reality (AR) systems have to be tested with users in order to find and fix usability problems as early as possible. In this paper we will report on a user-centered design approach for AR systems following the experience acquired during the design and evaluation of a software prototype for an AR-based educational platform. In this respect we will focus on...

In this paper we propose the use of specific mobile system architecture for navigation in urban environments. The aim of this work is to evaluate how virtual and augmented reality interfaces can provide location and orientation-based services using different technologies. The virtual reality interface is entirely based on sensors to detect the location and orientation of the user while the augm...

متن کاملAugmented Reality in Schools: Preliminary Evaluation Results from a Summer School
Formative usability evaluation aims at finding usability problems during the development process. The earlier these problems are identified, the less expensive to fix they are. This paper presents some preliminary results from a formative usability testing of the 1st prototype developed for the ARiSE (Augmented Reality in School Environments) project. Keywords—AR-based educational systems, form...
متن کاملUser Evaluation of God-like Interaction Techniques
God-like interaction is a metaphor for improved communication of situational and navigational information between outdoor users, equipped with mobile augmented reality systems, and indoor users, equipped with tabletop projector display systems. This paper presents the results of a user evaluation that explores user experience to a subset of the godlike interaction metaphor. The tasks performed ...
